Category: fighunter.com

I've started like four blog posts in two days or something! But I've been working on the site a lot, adding various new things and it's all very exciting and such.

I'm writing this one to hopefully pre-emptively answer various questions I'd otherwise get, and also because perhaps people just like to be informed about new things that they see on the site's layout.

I've never really been a fan of these 'social networking' things, since I'm not social at all myself; I have crippling issues in that regard, actually.
But I hear things like *Facebook* and *Twitter* mentioned so very often on things I watch on the telly...
It seems that if I'm going to be working online and trying to 'sell myself' in some way, then it would pay to get used to using these things in order to get increased exposure. Perhaps.

Because of that, I joined Facebook a while ago, but never did anything other than fill in my information since it seems that looking at photos of people I know from online is really sort of creepy. I mean, seeing that a 12- or 13-year-old has joined this site, as I can see from the number on their profile, is an entirely different experience to actually seeing a photo of a young boy accompanied by the message that he'd like to be my friend. Or something.
And it's just so much easier to formulate mental imagery of people you talk to online, only to have it spoiled by photos. Or perhaps all the many social aspects that I struggle with are absent when it's just text exchanging, but when it comes to seeing what the person looks like, other parts of my brain are triggered, or something like that?

Either way, maybe I'll get back to Facebook eventually, not so much out of interest but out of a desire to increase my website's success or something, and make money that I sorely need to be making lots of soon if I want to make a profession of this.

I used to have a 'Recent Progress' thing on my site that I made myself, which acted sort of like Twitter. I'd do a task and then I'd write a sentence to say I'd done it, and it was shown on the blog page.
It was meant to involve people more in the game development process and say 'look, I AM doing something, not wasting my time!!', and having to write that I WAS doing something was also hopefully meant to motivate me to actually do something so I'd have something to write about. Or something.

I kept forgetting about it though, and it never felt very 'neat', the layout and input or anything.

So I thought about Twitter for a long, long time, and then decided yesterday on a whim, while looking at other layout-related stuff on the site, that I'd join Twitter and use it to report my game development progress and so on.

I've had it only about half a day so far, but I've already integrated it into the top bar of the site, so then it'll be far easier for me to remember to update it and easier for people to see what's going on with my work (it's where it is since it's meant to be associated with the Recent Updates below it, but a tweet wouldn't fit on the same line as those).
I also wrote my custom 'widget' to display the five latest tweets on the Home page, to replace the ugly one that Twitter provides.

So yes, hopefully I'll remember about this and 'tweet' something whenever I make progress.

I hate the inanity of how Twitter is generally used - to babble about the mundane minutiae of one's life as if people are expected to care, as if you're some kind of celebrity or god whose every meal, itch or trip to the toilet is worthy of being reportable news - so I'm going to be avoiding that. Just to make that clear!

Using twitter isn't all bad, you're able to quikly write a sentence or two telling us whats been happening and the progress you're making.
Also, seeing the rate at which you apply yourself and how much you get accomplished over time makes me appreciate what you're doing more. Plus we get to see the progress you make.
Nice touch, that is.

Yes, but there are some people who say stuff like, "OmG, i just, leik, opnd me frige, and liek, yeah!!!11!1!11..."
Next post: "i, leik, took out some paers..... OOooOOoO....."
That gets annoying after a while. Pseudo seems to be quite good at it, though, he sums up what he wants to say with 2 sentences, MAX. Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but moist people aren't Pseudo, and don't type like him.

THANK YOU so much for that! It annoys me so much when I see my friends facebook accounts, and they list every last thing they do, down to "I'm closing the screen door now!" or "I was fiddling with my pencil just now". So many social networkers (that's the right word, right?) seem to think that people hang on to every action they make, as if they're the President or something.

I don't have Twitter account but I really apreciate you putting it on your site. It brings the "fresh" element to the site a little bit and helps it to not look abandoned and deserted.

Well, I think I understand what some of them are trying to say, but I'll rephrase it because this is how I see it. If this is not what they mean, then that does not really matter, because this is what I think.

It does allow others to help motivate you a little bit, this could help you with your productivity and issues with being organized. Now that people can actually see your productivity, they can comment on it. This might help your production, and therefore, your income. This is very beneficial to your cause.

However, I can understand why you did not really want to do it originally. I do not really like those kind of sites either. I agree that the way they are used is just nothing but spam. Completely pointless.

In theory, I think this should drastically benefit you. However, let me make a note to the general populace here.

Try not to pressure Pseudolonewolf too much. He is making games because he chose to. You buy some stuff from him because of it, such as music, but he is not obligated to you in any way. I would imagine that he is probably fine with a little encouragement, but do remember that he is not in any way obligated. A lot of you are very supportive, but there does seem to be the occasional individual who tries to pressure him.

Pseudolonewolf, good job. Ever since I found MARDEK, I have loved every bit of your work I have seen. Some of your games are not entirely my style, but they were still well made, given the circumstances of the time in which you made it. (Yes, I actually took the time to read that much.) Nice job. I'll agree you still have plenty of room for improvement, but you have made it clear that you are still learning as you go. So you should not be expected to be flawless by any means. :)

Keep it up, you have potential.

I have one thing to say.

Yay! Now we can tell if you are procrastinating or not.
Seriously, you should have done this ages ago.
Now we can see how your progress is going instead of waiting for a Weekly Update.
And we can yell at you more often since we'll know if you are not working... :D

Just popping in to say I'm diggin' your productivity lately Pseudo. Nice work! While I'm not a huge fan of USING Twitter, developing applications that utilizes it and other social websites is right up my alley for work. Despite the attitude I'm seeing in some of these comments, Twitter is very helpful for keeping large communities up to date on smaller bits of news. It'll grow on everyone. Especially since the members don't actually have to sign up or DO anything to see the updates.

Just felt the need to say that i love this new twitter "bar" thing. Your goals have been reached already, as it already makes me feel as more *part* of your work. Please continue to use it as frequently as you can, although I certainly don't expect you to be posting on it every hour in the future, it is still nice for the time being.
