I've updated the currently uploaded version of Raider 2; this time it has music. No extra levels or anything, unfortunately.
There are other smaller changes, the most notable of which is a timer in the upper right corner. I don't know if I'll keep this, but if I do, you'll get a Rank at the end of each level, as a letter from S (the best) to E (the worst), depending on how long you took and how many times you died, and so on. Getting the highest rank on every level will get you some kind of reward; it just adds to the replayability, basically.

Anyway, I'm proud of the music - it took me DAYS of failed attempts to finally arrive at these pieces, which work - and now that I've finished them, I can get back to working on level 3.

This game was...i guess good?It was extremely hard to finish but i got it!^_^ I never really liked platfomers unless it was mario but i even got bored of that.I give you4 for game and 1 for effort making it 5/5 but please please finish mardek, diliverence, beast singer before finishing this!

My Goodness, this game is REALLY hard! I've spent about 3 hours working on it and I cant beat Level Two. I think you should put in a save option so people can save their progress. Anyways, back to playing it.

I just loved this Pseudo. The graphics were real nice ( nicer then Raider 1 in my opinion) And the dificulty was good because it challenged me a little and the jumping had definatlely been improved

Finally found a little time to check this out. So far I could only make it to room lv1_19. Here's my feedback:

Music:
Just excellent.

Difficulty:
Hard, as promised. I actually like that. Many games nowadays simply lack the challenge.

Graphics:
Overall very nice. However the background seems to be a lot smoother (i.e. less pixelated) than the foreground - is that intentional?

Bugs:
- I've seen the "get stuck in wall" bug once, but could continue. Probably worth fixing at some point (especially if it allows cheating - I haven't tried to deliberately reproduce it and fool around), but not annoying right now.
- I've experienced the "fall through moving platform" bug a number of times (4 or 5) and I'd guess it has to do with hitting the exact point between the parts the platform is made up of. This is annoying when it happens, and it does happen often enough, so this should be fixed soon. (Meanwhile I'm making sure to always hit the centre of a platform part.:))

Others:
- I originally hated the behaviour of the A key (i.e. that you have to HOLD it if you want to jump higher) but I realised later that in certain places you'll want to jump to an exact height which is less than the max, so I guess I'll have to put up with it.
- When climbing up (or walking above) ladders, you shouldn't fall off the top. Instead, at the top of a ladder, the Down key should behave the same as the Up key at the bottom (start climbing down instead of crouching). It just doesn't feel right that you have to spring off the top of a ladder if you don't want to fall all the way back down.
- When you get hit (whether by a monster or a bullet), you begin to fall directly downwards & if you had a key held down, you have to release it, then press it again to have it take effect. Arguably this makes some sense when you're on a ladder (your grip slips off the ladder due to the impact), but not when you're mid-air in a jump. You begin to jump from one platform to another, get hit halfway in the air and therefore change course abruptly and land in the spikes - what?

There's one more thing I'd change (there have been similar suggestions): have a "challenge mode" (same as now) and a "practice mode" where you can choose which level to begin with, and have infinite lives. To avoid people "practising" through the whole thing, you could then disable the "practice mode" for a level until all previous levels have been completed in "challenge mode" (that means always starting from the beginning of level 1, of course!). To explain why this is necessary - I'm stuck in lv1_19 where I just can't get one combination right, and I can't be bothered to replay the 15-20 minutes of the already mastered previous rooms only to get another 5-7 attempts at it (that's about the number of lives I have when I save at the beginning of the room), fail in about 3-5 minutes, and find myself back in room 1. The times being roughly the above, this is losing the "challenge" aspect and gaining a "useless waste of time" one. Whereas if I could practise this, figure out what it is I need to do in like 20 minutes, and then die at the same point starting from the beginning, that would be a different story.

I might be able to try again though another day. If there's an update by then, so much the better... Keep it up, it's going to be fun.

Nice work on Raider 2, good old platformers, reminds me of back in the day when we walked to school for miles and all we had was an NES and a copy of the Mario-Duckhunt combo cartridge.

I completely relate to the various feelings of "I really want to, but somehow can't lift a finger", when it comes to projects.

I've been writing backstory, making races, towns, etc, and drawing various characters and wildlife for a game I've been dreaming of for years. Started writing about 8 months ago, haven't done anything in the last 2 months or so.

Good game, but it could use a sound on/off option like your other games. Not that it's very important but just for the future.... anyways good job on the updates, I can see where you've tweaked a few things and it makes the game all the better. Good luck on your games Pseudo!
