Pseudolonewolf`s Avatar Weekly Update Again Sun 24th May 2009 11:59am

Category: Weekly Updates

I'm still keeping to this weekly news article schedule thing, amazingly enough!
And this time, I will speak of schedules!

I've likely mentioned before that I've written timetables, or schedules, for myself so that my game-making would be more organised and less, well, lacking in direction... But I only ever planned a weekly timetable, like 'work on game X between these hours on this day', and I didn't keep to it very well.
What I've done now though is plan out a full calendar thing for myself, assigning specific tasks that need doing to certain days, so then I can actually accurately predict my progress and give estimate release dates.
This will be great for me because usually I end up procrastinating since there's so much to do on all my projects that I can't decide what to focus on, and just end up wasting time instead of choosing one thing... This will give me direction and focus, and I'll always know exactly what to do instead of spending time choosing.

I've dedicated most of the schedule to MARDEK 3, since most of us - including myself - want that one to be finished the most.
But I've also assigned some days to 7H9H (though they're few and far between, though I might work on this one if I have spare time after doing my assigned daily tasks on MARDEK), and some others to Beast Signer, interestingly enough. I've even included a small number of days speckled about the timetable to work on the Figimon thing, which is in a poor state at the moment and which I really should get around to making better...

I've only assigned simple, quick tasks to each day - like on one day I might have 'animate four monsters', and on another I might have 'make skills for this character' - and currently, the completion date for MARDEK 3 seems to realistically be at around mid- to late-September... BUT, it seems that many of the days' tasks are so simple that I could probably compress things so that some days are combined (I might animate those monsters AND make skills for someone on the same day, for example), and I've also assigned a few days to non-specific things, 'catch up' days, which I can use just in case I'm lagging behind a bit. If I wasn't lagging behind, I could just push the days back a bit for an earlier release date.
Keep in mind however that the completion date isn't necessarily the release date (I finished Raider episode 1 weeks ago, and it's still not released yet...). There'll likely be a month - maybe even two - of sponsorship stuff and testing before I can actually RELEASE it... But let's hope that you're all able to play it by the end of the year! o_O
I can actually update the percentage complete bar thing accurately now though, since I know exactly how many tasks are left to complete. I've got each additional 1% marked at regular intervals on the timetable, so I know exactly when I can update the bar. 85% next Wednesday!

Hopefully Beast Signer will be in a working state by the end of the year too, and perhaps 7H9H as well. I should also focus on FHO, but I haven't added it to the timetable thing yet because I didn't know what specific tasks I needed to do on it...

Also, there's been more progress on the sponsorship of Raider. I've got around to the point now (FINALLY) where I've finalised the choice of sponsor and added all of their branding into the game, so now all I have to wait for is confirmation from them, and payment, and then I can release it.
I'm going with Kongregate as my sponsor, by the way.
After Episode 1 is released, I'll likely delay for about a month or so before releasing episode 2... Though if people hate that too much, I might consider releasing them faster. We'll see.

Apart from this game-related stuff, I've only really got minor things to mention...
The Derren Brown thing was amazing. We had like the best seats in the place, and, out of the thousands of people there, my brother was one of the people chosen to go up on stage and participate in one of the best tricks of the night... which is so bizarre to think about. It was very strange to see some person I've been such a fan of *in real life*, as a real human being walking around on stage and talking and interacting with people including my brother... o_O

Also, I've been wondering a lot about my own personality lately, and how people perceive me to be... I started a journal entry about this on deviantART, and loads of people said surprising things, pointing out as my most apparent flaws things that I thought were some of my few strengths... So hmm.
I'm curious about how people HERE perceive me as a person, too, so I'd be very interested to hear what you think, but I'm only mentioning this as a side thing at the bottom here because I don't think that many of you have seen enough of me to really have much of an opinion...

Anyway, there you go. I'll hopefully be making steady progress in the next week, on MARDEK, Beast Signer, 7H9H, and the Figimon thing! (I have days assigned to work on all of those.)

Temperaments are nothing like horoscopes, and you've proven to be quite ignorant on this matter before, putting them down like that because you don't understand the concept.

Astrology is invalid because is is based around external factors - the positions of celestial bodies - having a direct influence over people, which is demonstrably false. Horoscopes are worded in such a way that they can either apply to everyone, or they're never applicable at all.

Temperaments rely on no external factors and instead describe what a person IS and nothing more, and even then only at the most basic level of attitude, rather than things like interests, mannerisms, opinions, etc.
We all have every trait that is characteristic of being a human, but we all KNOW that people around us exhibit varying *balances* in emotional traits, etc. Some people are clearly extroverts, others introverts, some nervous, some confident, some bubbly, some shy, and these tend to be their consistent attitudes unless they're having a particularly strange day or faking some other attitude. Everyone knows this, and the temperaments merely give words to what is readily observed.

In my experience with them, I've learned how to understand them well and use them to make sense of why people act the way that they do. They fit with all that I have seen and do see of people, and not just in a convenient 'focus on the hits and ignore the misses' or 'force it to fit' sort of way, either.
I find it irritating when people speak of this system that they don't understand as if I'm a fool for using it.

Well, I do think that you've improved on many of your weaknesses, such as not being able to complete stuff. However, you're still really doing yourself a disservice by focusing so much on temperaments. They shouldn't be taken any more seriously than horoscopes.

I thought you already made a schedule for making the games, Pseudo. Didn't work out? Probably not.. So then you make a new one? I find it pretty good this schedule. On most of it you work on MARDEK 3. You OUGHT to make some progress on MARDEK 3 by then! Woot! But that Derren Brown preformance thing, you should go to maybe, first.

Actually, it is a delighting thing to know, that it is!
Maybe you should talk more and listen less? o_O

You seem like a terribly pessimistic person to me, Pseudo. Or perhaps not pessimistic, per say, you simply have trouble finding encouragement, will power, motivation and happiness in general, which I find odd since you have chosen an artistic field of 'work'. If you've ever read 'The Phantom Tollbooth', you remind me of the main character at the beginning of the book, which is fascinating, by the way. Dare I say that it sounds to me like you need religion in your life?

Shopping Mall trick Pseudo was referring to, in case anyone is interested. (It's rigged to a proxy so that ANYONE can view it and no REGION ERRORS occur due to YOUTUBES INCOMPETENCE!)

I see you as an incorruptible Big Brother type, as in, you watch over the masses, but for good reasons, and such... I also see you as a form of role model that doesn't exist where I live... And, um, I don't like to talk much, sometimes, so I'll leave it at that.

Derren Brown could have passed for a deity some few thousand years ago.
