Pseudolonewolf`s Avatar Raider Episode 2 Beta Tue 23rd Jun 2009 8:51pm

Category: Raider

I've decided to go with the Closed Beta approach, selecting a few people to be Beta Testers.
Whoever gets chosen will get the Beta sign on their accounts, like when I've done this with other games before.

If you're swelling in a rather grotesque way with interest regarding this, mention yourself here and why you think you should be allowed to beta test.

Keep in mind that you must meet the following criteria:

- You must have played and finished the first episode. Anyone who hasn't doesn't have the required level of interest in the game and likely would not be a very devoted tester.

- You must have free time to do this; I do not wait to wait several days for people to finish testing. It shouldn't take longer than a day or two and I want to hurry along with this part.
(Having to wait for people to 'get around to it eventually' is one of the main reasons I would hate to work with someone else full-time...)

- You must not have an irritatingly critical attitude which tends towards sounding superior and belittling. This one seems strange and most people who have such an attitude wouldn't even realise it or would deny that they did, but... well, there are people who'd play the game and react pleasantly, giving friendly suggestions in a helpful kind of way, and they're ideal. But then there are people who'd try to pick out every little flaw just to show that they can and have an 'I could have done better' or 'my opinion about what is good is fact, and if this game doesn't meet it, it's flawed' attitude, or something. Or they pick out utterly trivial things that aren't even problems just to show that they can pick out problems. So basically, I don't like people who are 'critics for the sake of being critics'... I find their 'suggestions' really annoying.

- You must realise that you are merely reporting bugs and making suggestions for minor tweaks, NOT making suggestions for a change of concept or anything.
(Anyone who feels that I SHOULD change fundamental aspects of the concept - for example, the difficulty - shouldn't even bother volunteering.)

- You must definitely not share the benefits you'd get. No linking other people to the game or talking about it to people or anything like that. I don't exactly intend to keep the whole thing some big secret or anything since the game isn't important or significant enough for that, but nor do I want things to be widely spread so that the Closed beta isn't closed enough. Or something.

- You must be willing to type about your experience; I DO NOT want people who would merely play the game and say nothing.

- You must be willing to play a potentially buggy game without getting frustrated. If you encounter something entirely crippling that makes the game crash just as you're reaching the end, you must be willing to calmly report the problem and then to start again from the beginning, rather than saying "oh [PROFANITY] this, I quit!"
If you ever tend to do that with games, don't volunteer.

- You must be willing to play through the game until the end AT LEAST once, EVEN IF it is extremely difficult!! (IMPORTANT)

- You must be adequately literate. If you lack language skills, you cannot communicate your findings as effectively.

- You must actually be interested in this game...

Hmm... That seems like there's more reasons than I thought there'd be...
They're all basically to exclude idiots and the untrustworthy though, so it's not like I'd only end up with a small, elite group. That wouldn't be good for testing anyway.

So speak up if you're interested.

(If you already have the β mark from before, it'll be removed at some point, so you have to speak up here if you want to keep it...)

I'll likely wait until tomorrow before uploading the game for the beta testers to play, so, uh, hurry or something!1

I don't know if it's too late, but I'd like to be a beta tester.

I give up. I'm just gonna wait for the official release. Hopefully, it doesn't flop like episode 1 did. Usually, a series takes more than 3 episodes to truly take off. Dont' get discouraged, mate

Uh, guys, I'm fairly sure that Pseudolonewolf is no longer looking for beta testers. Notice how nobody who applied after the 25th has become a beta tester. Well, I guess it doesn't hurt to try, though...but still, there's no use in typing a whole application out for nothing.

Er... no. No thanks. I doubt I could be a good beta-tester, I tried once and ended up not caring about this game, not to mention I don't have suficient skills to finish any of those games.

TBH I just wrote this comment to ask where's the weekly entry that should have arrived here yesterday.

I'd like to apply for the closed beta of Raider Episode 2. I will warn you that I will likely be unable to play unless if I can mark it onto my desktop, and then mark down bugs until my return to the United States of America upon July 2nd, 7:00 EST. It is quite troublesome, I agree, but I am interested in the plotline of Raider, and have played Raider 0. I haven't beta tested any other games, but I'm sure this will be a rewarding experience on my behalf and yours. I will thank you for your site and your games even if I am not chosen.

I love your games so I'd try to keep my list short. I have lots of free time this summer, so time isn't an issue. Also I hate it when people list every single thing of what's wrong and nothing that's right. I REALLY want to be a beta tester for you.

Hmm.. *humming bee*... *Reads all the comments of people who has been chosen as beta testers" Well hi pseudolonewolf, i'm Mark. I would really like helping you with some beta testing. I have beta tested two other games before (AQW and Remnants of Skystone). In AQW i didn't really get the chance to report bugs since almostly all bugs were reported when i found out the beta testing had started... In Remnants of Skystone i have talked with the maker of the game myself instead of writing them in a thread, but i still have found a lot of nugs in that game.I really don't care that a game i plays is buggy. And even though i might get a lot angry when the game won't do as i want it to, i always plays on and almostly always completes the game in the ending. I'm on a summervacation from school, and therefor i got loads of time to play your game in. I hope i'll wake up tommorrow with a little (B) to the right of my name. I'll go to bed by now, Goodnight.

I will glad to be your second episode betatester;

I was been from ten years ago an amateur game maker (RPGmaker, Adventure game studio), and also I like to create roleplaying universes... In the playing thing, I'm in love with retro game, I'm always downloading abandonware material (from strategic games to adventures, arcades incluided), and a lover of SNES, Neogeo, Mame emulators.

This reasons maybe is why I Love completely Raider Episode One (I play time to time again and again to make better qualification), I founded all the relics withouth help, and, Damm, Battle and battle with the boss to win.

I'm betatester normally in AGS (adventure game studio) comunitty, and Since I discover kongregate, I Make and acomplish every game with badges every week.

Thanks if you select me ^^
