I have little to report!

Uh... I've been sticking to my schedule and working on MARDEK 3 every day, except this weekend, where I've not worked on it at all. I've done about half of the sidequests now, so there are just as many left to do. Then I need to do other stuff like another Cambria tournament, and, uh... a lot of writing! I've included two Library areas in the game full of bookshelves, which I want to fill with mildly interesting information, but I haven't written any of that yet... so that might take a while.

I think I'll say that it will be done by January. My schedule says that it'll be done before then IF I stick to it, but instead of half-promising a date I won't keep to, I'll just give myself like half a month of time in which to fall behind and still meet the 'deadline' I've mentioned... hmm.

So, uh... yes! Start of January! That would be when beta testing would be done, at the latest, I hope... It's probably a good thing that I'll miss out on Christmas and December, since I can see that being a bad time to release a non-Christmas-related FLASH game... Everyone will be involved in silly festive contests, or playing the games they got as presents, I'd bet.

Do I have anything else at all to report...? I don't think so...
So, uh, I hope for more progress this week! Yes!

Whatever you decide to do I'm sure we'll all enjoy it
I just hope the testers will pick up on all the bugs that may or may not be in the game
I'm assuming you don't make the people who ask to be "Beta testers" betatesters. fair enough becasue i'm sure everyone wants to be a tester but how do you determine who gets in or not?

Maybe for next Christmas you could do a side story for Mardek for whatever their version of christmas is.
Maybe that would make the people who are asking for christmas mods and so on

I cant wait for Mardek to be released i just hope the wait hasn't made people expect it to be another FF7

Since there are still a lot of sidequests and things to be done, i'd estimate a release around Valentines day. (remembers when I predicted the release of march 2009). Meh, it still will be a good game that I will anticipate playing

Dream stones?
Re-buying from shops?

This will probably be the best RPG ever made!
Seriously, these sound really good ideas, I am happy to wait until 2011 if you keep adding new stuff like this! With a card game probably in M4 (or else!) that would be INCREDIBLE!

After waiting for a year and a half for mardek 3 I don't mind waiting longer, after all this time and several announced release dates I'd suspect the "January release" will be in the year 2011. Not that I could care, Pseudo should juice it for all it's worth, build the hype rake in sponsors, do what he has to to make money.

That sounds interesting. I've seen that in a number of rpgs in the past. So it should be a familiar addition.

Please try and remember to update the progress tracker on the front page. Not just for my personal benefit but because things like that are good for creating "buzz". As de Novo mentioned, it may soon be time to start thinking about how to to get the most out of this release.

The progress tracker, maybe some factoids/teasers to help discussion and increase hype, putting "Mardek 3: coming January 2010" or some such thing wherever you can (newgrounds bio, author comments etc.), starting threads in gaming forums in a few weeks time, maybe a banner on the FP, getting onto portals now, etc. etc. Things like that may help to increase interest in the game. Even if you only get a couple of hundred extra people's attention, it'd be worth the effort, right?

Anyway, just keep it in mind. Happy coding!

I would like to ask a question about the limited stocks of items.

1. How does this work? Is a store given only a set amount of items to sell, or do they regenerate over time or something? Explain please.
- I'm curious as to how this will affect in actions such as piling potion and etc for a dungeon and all, in which case limited potions might cause problems or lag down the process a whole bit.

2. If we are able to buy back the items we sold, do they stay at the shop infinitely, or for only a determined amount of time? And are all items repurchasable or just a select few?
- How this works out may cause a whole bunch of crap to end up at the store, making it very annoying to use it.

Hm, I certainly don't want to buy the Lead Pipes I got from beaten rats in Goznor's sewers. Selling forever works just fine there.

Shops would generally have a set of standard items which are infinite supply; things like potions would fit into this category. However, they may also have some rarer items in limited stock; like an accessory shop selling unlimited CopperRings, but only one GoldRing or something.

If you sell something to a shop, it'd stay there forever, unless you bought it back. Shops also have a limited amount of inventory space, meaning that you couldn't sell everything you own to one shop if you have a lot of stuff.
Generally this wouldn't be a problem, unless you're being stupid with it and TRYING to fill up shops' inventories with your stuff... In normal play, though, you wouldn't accumulate enough sellable rubbish to fill even one shop with it, and there are plenty of shops in the world.
