Pseudolonewolf`s Avatar MARDEK 2 OST Fri 19th Feb 2010 1:27am

Category: Music

I have now put an Original Soundtrack for chapter 2 up for sale! This one's perhaps more worth getting than the chapter 1 one...
Especially since it apparently contains six 'secret' tracks that I composed for the version of chapter 2 included with chapter 3. You can only acquire them by actually buying the full album though; they don't appear on the list otherwise.
They are:
- 'Sorrow' - A piece that was made to replace the 'Game Over' music that plays at times like when Steele dies at the Gem Mines.
- Vehrn's Theme
- Zach's Theme
- Arena Battle - Battles in the Cambria arena tournaments now use this rather than the usual Casual Battle music.
- Battleship - A piece used on Moric's Battleship, rather than the 'GdM' music.
- Emela's Theme

So if you want to hear those before the release of chapter 3, buy this, maybe!

Are the prices fair...?

The prices are fair... maybe? You do deserve to earn more since you rarely get any donations from us. In fact people should have donated to you if they wanted you to finish a game more quickly. (Like Mardek 3?) Apparently I say you should raise the price for the songs.

Four updates in a week! This has got to be a record. And since I said I would in the chat, I'm going to purchase the MARDEK 2 soundtrack, and I may or may not purchase the first one, too.

Personally, I think the price is steep. For LESS money, I can buy (for an example) an album of Beethoven's greatest works, which are (no offense) better than your pieces. I actually thought about buying the album, assuming that it was one or two pounds, or about 3 dollars or so, but when I saw that actually price, I realized that there was just no way I would buy it. My advice is to about half your prices. I think your sales would go up and you would generate more revenue. Again, you must compare it two CD's or downloads of published orchestral composers who have written extremely complex and time intensive music for a living, and then assume that your music is probably worth a bit less than half of that. Just my two cents.

How cheap!
I was comparing my prices to similar CDs available which I looked at, not completely different genres like Classical which aren't even sold by the long-dead composers anyway; technically most Classical music is in the public domain. Can you get an album by some modern band, or an OST of a game or film, for two dollars? And also, is rap music worth its price if price is based on 'quality' alone?
Also, it's worth noting that nobody has actually paid the base price so far; all sales have been above it, sometimes like five times the asking price, it seems.
$5 is like... nothing. It's hardly like a week's wages or anything. It's a tiny amount to me, and I say that as someone who earns basically nothing most of the time.
I think that the people who would want the prices to be cheap would not have bought it in the first place, and the ones who are willing to pay will pay the asking price, so if I halve my prices, I may end up getting, say, 10% more buyers, and that wouldn't make up for it.

Well, that was just my opinion. I am very happy that you are making sales far above your asking price. Apparently I was extremely wrong. Also, personally I think rap music should not be sold, anywhere. Again, just my two cents...

I personally think you are going too low with you price. On iTunes to download an album it cost $9.99 USD. You should do a price closer to that so that not only would your price still be reasonable, but your profits would increase with each sale. Or you could leave it the same if you would prefer

This isn't iTunes and a higher price would only cause less people to buy it. Also, those who feel that it's worth more will be motivated to PAY more; it's not a set price for that exact reason.

those secret tracks are great, especialy because people cant listen (and rip them) before paying, so people must (and will) buy it out of curiosity.

btw pseudo, have you sold some already or has no one bought a thing?

I like the whole "secret tracks" part a lot. This is because it gives you reason to raise the price from the first one, as well as encourage some people who want to hear your work before the release of chapter three to buy it. Basically it's all better money for you, which I have no doubt, you deserve. Once again I'll encourage you to "branch out' and find as many topics as you can to create music on. Good luck, I hope sales are going well (and stay that way)!

Hmm, what about buying tracks for someone else's game? For actual listening I find those tracks not so interesting, but I believe there could be a something like a special offer for other developers. Something like them being able to buy the tracks together with a certificate to use them in their games/movies, of course with mentioning you as audio author in their games. This could probably raise the sales a bit (i think).

You also mentioned doing soundtracks for some of your other music as well. I think that after you complete all of the Raider games, you should make a soundtrack for that music also. The music used in raider is very good, and I think a few people might buy it. At least it would intake some money.

The secret tracks will make it much more encouraging for people because they will buy it to find out what they are. I'm expecting much more purchases on this soundtrack. Good work Pseudo.

Where I said "find out what they are", I meant "what they are like." Sorry for the mistake, people.
