MARDEK RPG: Chapter 2Other Games

This is the revamped version of chapter 2, using chapter 3's engine. The original version was released back in 2007, and it's how a lot of people got to this site.

It's a rather long, in-depth RPG; probably about 4 to 10 hours of play time in total. Mardek has grown up since Chapter 1, and become a 'Royal Guard'... but due to the Annunaki spirit residing in his body, his life is about to get a lot more difficult!

I agree that Vehrn is better, but if you want to be able to use Zach to his full potential you should let him tag along in a few battles and get his kill count up. This really helps if you're planning on using him next chapter, which you should because he is pretty good.

Zack is probably more powerful overall, but Vehrn has more abilities focused on fighting dark elemental enemies and undead. Most of the enemies that you fight in chapter two are dark or undead, so Vehrn is more helpful in that chapter. Zack is pretty good in chapter three, but there are plenty of other powerful characters in chapter three other than him, so I would agree that you're better off with Vehrn.

Well, for me. I've used Vehrn. And that's for 2 reasons. First, he's free to use unlike Zach who asks money. Second, with all the Zombie and dark monsters thing, Vehrn is very powerful because of his light element and his skills.

That is my opinion, hope it helps.

Who's better? That's tough if you want a balanced team. Vehrn is good against undead, which are seen throughout the chapter the most. But, if you get Zach's kill count high, he can do some killer damage with his Sinstrike in Chapter 3. But, there is a way to use them equally... First, use Vehrn as he can do high damage with Smite Evil on Bernard, the Shaman and Disrupt Undead on the other undead. When you get the Boneslicer, go the last Save Crystal you walked by. Yes, it's a long walk, but we wouldn't want Zach killed in one hit against the Zombie Warrior and Moric, now, would we? Switch Vehrn with Zach, have him equip the Boneslicer. But make sure his Berserk skill is mastered first, as it will be useful in some situations. Then use Zach for the remainder of the game, as he can now do double damage to undead, and he has no weakness to Dark, unlike Vehrn. And be sure to go to the arena for the Champion Sword, the Lightning Rod, the Twin Trilobites, and the great armor. But don't forget the Burial Sword at the very end of the Catacombs. Of course, you'll have to through that grand battle with the Zombie Dragon. I hope this helps.

Huh... I suppose I haven't commented on this yet! I could have sworn I did... oh well.(Likely before the site change.)

As you can imagine, I, along with many other people it seems, loved this game, but I'm not sure I can adequately explain how much I do love this game.

My first thought of MARDEK was:"Huh. Well, that games picture thing on crazymonkeygames looks rather low quality, so I have better games to play." I ignored it. It looked rather pointless. Eventually though, after having played many other games there, there wasn't much left, and I decided to give "MARDEK 1" a try, since I figured it would kill some time, and it had a sequel. It was fairly high rated to, so it seemed interesting.

So I tried chapter one. It seemed rather odd at first, but then once I got out of the fantasy part, it made more sense, though it still seemed a little odd. I did find the ending a little interesting though, so I figured "Hey, why not play chapter 2?". So then I started chapter 2.

I was moving through fairly quickly... I was really liking the plots and the new pictures of the people and the new battle system. I kept playing up to the Muriance battle... I couldn't beat it! By god, it was hard! Eventually though, after a bit of grinding, I managed to get past it... but my saves... they weren't saving...

The notorious save glitch, known to many of the older members, had claimed another victim. I could only play to whatever point I could play to in one sitting.

Small bosses and battles like the lake hag and such were no problem. Alas, I started getting beaten by the worlds saviours. Eventually, more grinding and honing skills got me past them, but then, right afterwards, was the Zombie Shaman... No matter how much honing I did, I just couldn't beat the game up to the Zombie Shaman in one go without the saves working.

Eventually, I found out that my laptop had the remarkable ability to save though! Alas... I couldn't hook it up to the internet except for at WiFi hotspots. This became rather annoying. Still, I continued on. I found out that you didn't have to be connected to the internet while you were playing, you just had to connect to load the game and such. Still, I didn't have much access to WiFi. We had it at the library, and that was it... and I only went there one day a week, and I had to walk home, and it was an hour long walk... So what did I do? I loaded the game at the library and adjusted my computers settings to optimize battery life, and to stay on when I closed it. I loaded MARDEK 2, played for a while, when the time came to leave I put it in my backpack and double-timed it home. I played at home then with the game loaded for ~8 hours.

It was not only the first time I defeated the Zombie Shaman, but eventually that night, for the first time, I beat the game... and that was when I realized that this wasn't the end of MARDEK! I had no idea that chapter 2 was just going to be Moric! I figured since Mardek was 18, this would be the perfect time to fight all his enemies and such... well, as it turns out, I was a little disappointed, but more thrilled, to know that this was not the end.

I still wanted to get rid of that blasted save glitch though, because I wanted to play it on my home computer. I noticed this odd link thing that said the game was created by what I could only conceive of pronouncing as a "Pa-swayed-O'lone-wolf"(Not thinking of the word "Pseudo".) and that it was made on some website about figs or something, so I clicked the link.

To give you an idea, at this point in my life, I had only ever gone to roughly 2 websites... not even Google. It was combatgrounds and crazymonkeygames for me, nothing else, so this was a huge leap of faith into the endless chasm to find the holy grail of MARDEK awesomeness.(Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade reference.)

I found this very site then. It was all so new... and yet... the gentle dark brown background made me feel safe... like an isolated, non-threatening place to be safe from the big scary internet. So I started reading Pseudos blog posts and taking part in the(formerly public) polls. I eventually even found a cure to the save link by updating my flash thingy!

Here's what's odd though... I didn't know then what an online community was, let alone that this site had one. I saw this thing that said you could make an account. I looked and I thought it was interesting, but I couldn't possibly fathom what joining a site did. I thought "What if it costs money?" At this point, I was going to Penn Tech and they had WiFi too, so I figured "Well, I can't be tracked here, so there is no risk. If it's something that tries to spam me of give me a virus or something, I can leave and never come back." So I thought I'd create an account. It asked me for my age though, and this was about a week before my 17th birthday, so I decided to hold off for a bit, until my birthday since I didn't know if you could change it later.

I then took an even bigger leap of faith, only this leap wasn't even going after the holy grail, I was just *hoping* that joining this strange website would have something good come out of it. So I joined.

At some point, I'm not sure if it was before or after I joined, I saw some of Pseudos other games and played DELIVERANCE. I loved it, it was amazing. I ended up making a failed first post in my own thread "glitches" which, as it turns out, got 3 inanity violations because it was already discussed in the hidden comment section of the MARDEK games that I was unaware of. I thought I was a failure, but I kept trying. I decided to post in an already existing newbie thread and such, and I began to figure out the ways of the site. The first comment I made was on a piece of music from DELIVERANCE, it was The Zombie!! battle.

Eventually someone extended a hand, metaphorically, with a welcoming comment. Rating Orb Emma was so kind as to be the first person to comment, and I was so thrilled that I was a member of a strange community, but that it wasn't threatening like I imagined it would be!

I started commenting and posting, getting likes and hates... annoying a large number of people by arguing against the laws of physics... calling an atheist or two wrong because you couldn't disprove gods existence... getting Pseudo to loathe me even more than he loathes all of Alberto's accounts combined... but eventually, I made a name for myself, I think.(Albeit not the most loved name, as you can tell.)

I was looking forward so much to MARDEK 3, I just couldn't bear it! I mean, when I first started visiting, it was days from being out!!!1! The fact that it took a little longer than thought only caused be to anticipate it more! I knew that Pseudo shouldn't rush though, as I was sure it was going to be perfect. Eventually it was finished, and I played the new versions of chapter 1 and 2, and finally, chapter 3. I didn't start chapter 3 until a few days after everyone else though, because I wanted a perfect save in chapters 1 & 2 first. It was worth it.

I do miss the old versions of the game, and I even got the highest score in MARDEK 2 in the world, simply because I didn't want the first place to be someone with the numbers "666" in their name. Eventually my score was also beaten, but I didn't mind, because that person didn't have 666 in their name!

Still, after all that, MARDEK 3 was truly worth it. This site, these games, Pseudo and all the people of this site have become a huge part of my life. This site has changed me for the better in so many ways. I have better writing skills, better grammar, way better social skills and much more. I now even go to other websites, although to this day I only have accounts here, and an abandoned one on combatgrounds.

This might all seem odd, that I'm saying this, but I do want to say something else: All of this, everything that I'm telling you, happened because of MARDEK 2. MARDEK 2 has truly changed my life in an unbelievable way. To think, had it not been for the save glitch, I never would have clicked that strange little link to the site of figs run by a Paswayed O'lonewolf. I would have never played chapter 3, and I would just be a guy who visited crazymonkeygames to pass time by.

Oh, the memories of MARDEK 2. The only game I have ever played that was so good it literally changed my life.

I clicked the start button on this game, and suddenly I am transported back to 1993, sitting in front of my television, playing my favorite game of all time... you know the one, about the "last fantasy" ....

anyway, I love this game. Great job on the game-play and storyline. I have yet to see any type of flash game that has entertained me as much as this game has.

the game is good and all, but but that ending just doesnt fit when it takes less than 2 minutes,
not 11 minutes to kill it, making the rest of the plot structured on an unwise desicion
other than that, i give it a 9001/10

I love this game so much. There is so much thought & time put into it. You see a lot of flash games (or games in general) that are very sloppy, with no thought put into them. This is why I love Pseudolonewolf & his games : He is a perfectionist , which is a good thing if your a game maker. What I love more than anything about this game is the humor : it is witty, well placed, & gets me laughing every time I play this game

Remember, spare Gope, even if you can buy the keys in Areopolis,it's still a good idea to spare him,'cause you don't lost money and if you don't spare him you can't get the first champion sword.(that's very useful)

Right on, man. this is easily the best online RPG I have EVER played. To call this anything other than perfection, would be to mock it's very nature. This game mixes everything together- perfectly refined game-play, a great mix of seriousness, and able to make fun of itself, and a great cast of characters. 100/10 stars.

That sounds a little excessive to me. It's charmingly written, endearing, and quite enjoyable, and indeed impressive considering that it's the work of one person (I think) entirely unaided. But it's not completely without flaw.

(1) You probably didn't give permission for enough "save space" for your file to remain and (2) you could have just askedfor advice/a solution quite a bit more civilly.
