I really wanted to plug this game to an audience I think would appreciate this. I saw it on an indie gaming blog the other day, and it really is quite wonderful - it mixes 90s era platforming with some elements of RPGs, and has a great challenge system. I'm really enjoying it so far, about 22% through with 5-6 hours of gameplay (for a platformer!).

Give it a try:

and buy the full version for $5 if you really like it. I think talent like the developers really needs to be put out there! I hope to post a review in coming days once I've finished more of it.

An enjoyable involvement in society for me would be having a small, very close group of friends who I can go to for support if ever needed, maybe 3-4. A partner would be nice, although I don't really desire one at this moment in my life, but I'm pretty sure that will change at some point. Other than that I'd like to have a slightly bigger circle of people interested in academics (that is, people into all the research and stuff) because it's nice to have people you know personally to talk to about THAT kind of stuff. And then maybe people who are for some sort of social change and volunteer/are active in changing stuff.

Right now I don't have a well developed circle of the latter two types, so I'm not sure how the interactions would be. I just think there's so much injustice in this world that you need to stay down to earth a little bit, that is, acknowledging or at least helping in some way the problems that occur every day (fatal shootings a few blocks from campus, constant murders all over the world, government problems in the Middle East, etc.) I think if I didn't extend myself to some sort of social activism circle, it would become far too easy to be sheltered in academia and not acknowledge the fact that so many people are suffering every day.

As for finding the site, I don't remember exactly how. It must have been circa Mardek 1 when I realized that the maker of the game was quite witty and talented, so I decided to visit. And the community is intelligent, everyone here is interesting, and the games are wonderful, so I kinda just stayed. I mostly lurk, although I'm trying to become more active.

IIRC, you could play around with a .sol editor to edit your stats on a file to take into account your stats from the first game. I'm not sure how this carries over, but as long as avoid the temptation to modify your game in a "cheating" manner you'll be alright. Of course, figuring out what changes what might take longer than just playing through the first two again (no more than 3-4 hours I'd assume, perhaps even less since I'm sure you've played through the game multiple times!)

I'm sure a lot of you have read about or seen coverage of the unrest in Egypt, Yemen and other Middle East countries. That being said, what are your opinions on say, President Mubarek of Egypt and his current actions? I'm not sure how bad off Egypt was before this all started. I'd assume quite bad because of what is happening now had to be sparked, or released after being pent up, by Mubarek's presidency. Do you think the US, or other countries, should be intervening at all? I'm not sure, because maybe that could lead to another Iraq which tries to make a democracy. Especially because there seem to be two sides to Egypt - people worried about terrorism occurring if a democracy is attempted to be developed, and those who think the country is better off without the president.

Obviously this is a very complex issue, like a lot of things in life...do you think there's anything a citizen of the world in a peaceful society can do to help these situations? I've been pondering that question myself, whether I could help at all, as a student at university...sometimes I feel like studies make me forget the world at large.
